Iconic Villains You WILL See in Spider-Man 2
Peter Parker has tackled some crazy villains during his time. The web-slinger has faced aliens, experimental failures that transitioned into monsters, and even a goblin. Now, Peter Parker is joining forces with Miles Morales where they will face venom, a sentient alien symbiote. Venom was confirmed during the PlayStation 2021 Showcase, but will we see other villains in the future?
Which Villains Are Confirmed?
Nostalgia takes us back to the first Spider-Man released on PlayStation in 2000. Who could forget Peter Parker’s spidey senses tingling when he’d cling to walls during a bank heist? Remember that gut-wrenching feeling you’d get when carnage would rampage through Doctor Octopus underwater lair? How about when Carnage chased you through elevator ducts as he took over Doc Ock?
Iconic villains help progress a hero’s storyline. We want to see the good guy save the day. When Insomniac Games and Sony Interactive Entertainment announced that Spider-Man was getting a sequel people were eager to find out who the villains were. If you were able to catch the trailer, you’d be able to hear Tony Todd (voice of Zoom in The Flash) will be voicing Venom in Spider-Man 2.
If you take a deep listen at the trailer, you’ll pick up on another familiar voice. The second villain in the game will feature Kraven the Hunter.
Who are Venom and Kraven the Hunter?
Venom has a long history with Peter Parker and was first introduced in The Amazing Spider-Man #252, with a real introduction in The Amazing Spider-Man #300. Venom is a symbiote who used Spider-Man as a host, eventually, using Eddie Brock who has evolved into an antiheroic figure. Venom can use shapeshifting abilities, can become invisible, and it looks like he will have influence over the character's gameplay and story.
How can Venom change the game literally for Miles and Peter? Who knows, but this dark tone the game is showcasing really has us on edge.
Now, let’s talk about Kraven the Hunter.
Kraven, also known as, Sergei Kravinoff, is a big-game hunter who just got bored one day and decided he’d take on some of Earth’s mightiest adversaries. This baddie has tried taking down big shot names such as Black Panther, the Hulk, and even Iron Man himself. If he is in the game he’d be quite the foe to fight.
Who MIGHT we see?
If Kraven is going to be in the game, we can say with a 75% chance that his half-brother, yes, his half-brother, will be there. Kraven’s half-brother is Chameleon and he’s one of the first supervillains that took on Spider-Man. If he is in the game, there’s a possibility you missed him. Chameleon is someone who can impersonate anyone. Perhaps Insomniac Games wanted to add him as an easter egg?
Spider-Man 2 will be released in 2023, meaning we have plenty of time to get future announcements, fan theories, and time to catch up on the antagonists Spider-Man has the pleasure of crossing paths with.
